Title – Tells the audience the name of the film. Usually the largest text, and eye catching in order for it to be obvious and memorable for the reader.
Tagline – Used to promote the film
Feature image – Used to show the audience who the main characters are
Mise – en – scene – All aspects within the film poster, used to indicate the film’s genre and narrative.
Billing block – Informs the audience of the main cast and crew involved in the making the film
Release Date – This is the date the film will be shown in cinemas. It is used to create anticipation and excitement for the film.
Director – in some films, the name of the director is used to attract audiences interested in the director, especially if they are well – known, as this may attract audiences to watch the film if they are a fan of that director’s previous work.
Website / social media links – Film posters often use their links to their websites and social media accounts. This encourages audiences to look at the social media and to talk about the film on social media to get the film more attention from other viewers, spreading knowledge of the film through word of mouth online (2 step flow theory).
Productions / distribution logos – These will be positioned usually at the bottom of the poster
